Norway Tourist Visa Requirements for 2026: Documents, Funds and Insurance

Last reviewed: 25 October 2026. Visa fees and processing times change, and we did not verify the fee.

Norway is part of the Schengen area. If you need a visa to visit, you apply for a Schengen visa. This guide lists the main requirements from an official Norwegian checklist.

Quick answer

  • Passport: valid at least 3 months beyond your planned travel, issued within the last 10 years, with at least 2 blank pages.
  • Funds: NOK 1,300 per day of stay, or NOK 1,000 per person per day if travelling with others. If you stay with family or friends or have pre-paid accommodation, NOK 300 per day.
  • Travel insurance: valid for the whole Schengen stay, with at least EUR 30,000 of medical cover.
  • The fee: the checklist we reviewed does not list a fee. Check the Norwegian embassy or the UDI website.

Documents to prepare

  • Original passport and a copy of the biodata page.
  • Completed application form.
  • Proof of accommodation and travel plans.
  • Bank statements showing you can fund the trip.
  • Travel medical insurance.

The checklist is dated 10 July 2026. Your country’s Norwegian mission may ask for extra documents.

Tips

  • Apply well before you travel, since appointment availability varies.
  • Never pay an agent for a “guaranteed” visa.
  • Only submit documents through the official application centre.

Red flags and scams

  • Anyone asking you to pay for a job offer, a work permit or a “guaranteed” visa.
  • Job adverts with very high pay for beginners, or no interview.
  • Contact only through WhatsApp, Telegram or a free email address with no company website or address.
  • Fake government sites. Use only the official government website of the country.

If you think you have been targeted, stop paying, keep all messages and receipts, and report it to the Norwegian Police. You can also email us at info@careerjobss.com.
